Licensed professional counselor jobs in Denver

Part-time therapist positions available for therapists to work in-person in Denver, Greenwood Village, or Lone Tree.

We're hiring licensed therapists for weekend hours

If you’re looking for a supportive place to use your skills as a licensed professional counselor (LPC, will consider LPCC with additional training) or licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT, will consider MFTC with additional training), we’re hiring part-time therapists (evenings, weekends) to work in-person at our offices in Denver, Greenwood Village, and Douglas County

At this time, we’re only hiring therapists who have additional training (EMDR, Gottman Method, IFS, couples counseling, Ketamine-assisted therapy etc.) that goes beyond their Master’s degree. Because 95% of our clients request in-person therapy, we aren’t considering teletherapy-only candidates. This allows us to fill your caseload quicker with clients that are a good fit for you.

We’re a therapist-owned business and have built our private practice to create “forever jobs” for our team of therapists. As a private pay practice, our therapists take home more per session than nearly every therapy office in Denver. Our full-time (20-30 client hours per week) therapists easily make over $100,000 per year. Our busiest therapists who see 30 clients per week make nearly $200,000 per year, and they still take time off. Our part-time therapists make significantly more than therapists working full-time community mental health therapist jobs in Denver.

Our team is built with a culture of open communication, independence, responsibility, efficiency, and respect. If you’ve been working at an agency or a therapy business that accepts insurance or Medicaid, leaving you with low or limited pay, rigid hours, delayed paychecks, and clients that don’t match your skillset or training, we are pretty much the opposite of that.

We are client-centered therapists. We have individuals, couples, families, teens, and children who come to us organically or are referred to our therapists by some of Denver’s best known community organizations. If you have the training and a strong work ethic, we have clients looking for you. We expect a lot to take a lot of personal responsibility, including responding to client inquiries outside of business hours, but it’s how our therapist are as successful as they are.

Many therapy group practices make unrealistic promises on how long it will take to fill your caseload and make a livable wage, even though they don’t have the new client volume to realistically support your growth. We receive consistent inbound requests throughout the year, more Ketamine-assisted therapy requests than almost any private practice in Denver, and most of our therapists have a full caseload in 3 months or less, depending on their level of training and types of clients they’ll see. For a therapist with multiple types of training who is capable of seeing all types of clients, your schedule will likely be full in 1 to 2 months.

We want our therapists to be at their bests for our clients, so we set them up for success, both professionally and financially. Here are some qualifications that help you be successful quickly at our practice:

  • Licensed professional counselor (LPC) or licensed marriage and family therapist in Colorado (LMFT). LPCCs and MFTCs with additional training will be considered.
  • Training in EMDR, IFS, DBT, CBT, EFT, Gottman Method couples therapy, Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, or another major modality, including brainspotting.
  • Experience or comfort with faith-based counseling. Many of our clients come to us from local churches and request a Christian therapist.
  • Client-focused mentality. After clients contact us, we get back to them the same day, even if that’s a quick email or text outside of business hours. If you have strong boundaries around sending a quick text message on a weekend, this is not the right opportunity for you. We want clients to talk to the therapist they’ll be meeting with as soon as possible, even if it’s a quick text or email.
  • In-person availability: Most clients don’t want to do teletherapy anymore, so we do what works best for them.
  • Evening or weekend availability: If you’re working towards licensure or want to work an alternative schedule to be home for your family or other responsibilities, or you’re just looking to make some extra money doing what you love, this could be a good fit for you,

We'll help you make money as a therapist in Denver

We want our therapists to do their best work with our clients, so our therapists take home a dramatically higher percentage of their rates compared to nearly every other therapy office in Denver. We’ve built our practice to be a “forever home” job for our therapists by paying them rates that benefit them more than our business.

If you’re a talented, experienced therapist in Denver, you should not be giving more than 50% of your rate to the business or practice you work for. When a therapy practice does this, it’s a huge red flag that a practice is focused on its own profitability, not you as a therapist. Most of all, it’s not fair to you as a therapist who primarily does the one-on-one work with your clients.

We believe in paying our therapists for their skills and time they’ve invested in themselves. We’re therapists first, but we also run a successful practice that has grown quickly because we invest back into the business and our therapists. If you are committed to your clients and work hard, you’ll be compensated accordingly.

You can help a business be successful, but you’re allowed to be successful as an individual too. We devote a lot of time towards thinking about how we can continue to create financial and professional opportunities for our therapists, even after they have a full caseload of clients. And if you’re happy with the number of clients you have, we respect that too.

If you’re seeing 20+ clients per week, expect to make $100,000 or more as a licensed therapist at MY DEnver Therapy, depending on how much time you take off for yourself. Our most-requested therapists with specialized trainings and experience make about $200,000 per year, but they earn it week after week.

Here are a few things that make us different:

LOCATIONs

Our offices are conveniently located off I-25 in Denver, Lone Tree, and Greenwood Village. Instead of placing offices near where one therapist lives, we choose locations near population centers where our clients live, work, or go to school. This lowers one of the biggest barriers to entry for in-person therapy and will be how we continue to grow in the future in a post-pandemic world.

RATES

Many private practices in Denver charge exceptionally high rates because they don't receive enough inbound requests for therapy. We want our rates to work for our clients, so we charge less and still pay our therapists more because of how we manage costs. We don't take insurance or take on debt as a business to help us grow at a sustainable pace that benefits our therapists and clients.

SPECIALTIES

With each person we hire, we try to expand upon our specialities as a practice. Whether it's being able to provide EMDR for more clients or adding something different, like Splankna or Sandplay therapy, we create opportunities for internal referrals because while no therapist can specialize in everything, we can cover almost everything as a group practice.

QUALITY OF REQUESTS

We don't run ads that result in inbound requests that are low quality or not real. Instead, clients find us organically when they're seeking therapy or are referred to us from organizations that we have built relationships with over the years. Compared to therapy practices with high acquisition costs for low quality inbound requests, our conversion rates for clients are much higher.

What we provide for our therapists

When you’re a therapist at My Denver Therapy, we’ll provide you with everything you need to be successful. You’ll get your own work email address, office space, furniture, and we’ll quickly match you with new clients.

We have virtual team meetings and in-person get togethers as a team when calendars allow. As a practice, we look for opportunities to expand on what we offer our clients, and that helps us keep up with what’s happening locally and throughout the industry.

Behind the scenes, we’re always looking for opportunities to help you find the right clients and trainings for you to love what you do and be great at it. If you’re passionate about wanting to work with certain populations, we’ll help you get those clients within a few months. It doesn’t happen right away, but it happens.

We pay our therapists weekly, provide end-of-year tax forms (1099), and business accounting recommendations too. If you love seeing clients, we make this the therapy job you’ve always wanted to have.

Your growth and health comes first

Because we've been doing this for years, we've built in ways for our therapists to be more successful the longer that they work with us, both financially and professionally. While we expect our therapists to see their clients during hours that work for them, we treat you like a grown-up when it comes to your schedule and when you want to work.

Get the clients you want

We've gotten good at matching our therapists' skills with the types of clients who contact us. If there's a particular population that you want to work with, we'll work to get you more of those clients within about 3 to 6 months, as long as the population and demand actually exists.

Earn more than most practice owners

Our full-time therapists make more money than most therapy business owners in Denver. Our part-time therapists make more than full-time community mental health therapists. We have multiple therapists who work for us instead of running their own practices because of the stability and clients we provide. We may have the highest "splits" of any therapy private practice in Denver, which means that you take home more of the money that you earn.

Clients contact us. A lot.

We've filled every therapist's caseload within 3 months or less. During COVID, we would receive 15-20 new requests for therapy daily. Today, we get at least 20 people reaching out to us for therapy every week, and there's never a shortage of clients for dedicated therapists who want a full schedule.

You can do other things

Whether you want to start a group, or you want to work at another therapy practice with clients that are interesting to you, we support it. Because our therapists are contractors (1099), they are free to explore and pursue their other interests while earning money as therapist with us. More experiences can make you a better therapist, and we're here for it.

What to know before you apply to a Denver therapist job

When you’re looking for a therapist job in Denver, here are a few red flags to look out for. Even if you don’t work as a therapist at My Denver Therapy, we want you to have a good experience with your therapist job in Denver.

number 1 icon

Don't take a 50/50 fee split: Many therapy private practice owners take 50% of your rate, even when you're the one doing the work. It's a little outrageous. A 60/40 split is common in Denver (ours is higher), but anything above that is unfair to you. You're allowed to make money as a therapist, not just make someone else money.

number 2 icon

Talk to their therapists: When you talk to other therapists who work at a practice or mental health facility, you can get honest answers to your questions about client referrals, the types of clients you'll get, and how busy you can realistically expect to be. You can learn a lot just from one conversation.

number 3 icon

Make sure their rates are listed: One of the most important things that many clients are interested in is a therapist's rates. If rates aren't clearly listed on a therapist's website, they could be charging unusually high rates, or it could make your first contacts with clients all about money. That can create a barrier to building a trusted relationship from the start.

number 4 icon

You shouldn't need your own website: If you're joining a private practice, you should benefit from their website, marketing, and relationships in the community. Some private practices require you to create your own website and link back to theirs, which helps them rank higher on Google. You're spending time and money to make their website thrive while yours is invisible on Google. We don't do that.

number 5 icon

Make sure they actually get client requests: We've seen too many therapy practices in Denver that overpromise and underdeliver on the number of clients you can expect to have. Talk to other therapists about their client load and find out if it matches with what you're looking for.

number 6 icon

Do specialized trainings or have plans to start: The more types of clients you can take, the faster you can fill your schedule with the types of clients you're trained to help. When you're a therapy generalist with a Master's degree, without any additional trainings, you might be limiting the population of people that you feel equipped to help.

Meet our therapists

My Denver Therapy is one of the largest woman-owned therapy private practices in Colorado with many of the best, most requested mental health therapists in the Denver Metro area.

As a therapist-owned practice with decades of combined experience, we care about seeing our clients heal, grow, and thrive. We’re one of the only therapy practices in Colorado with licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, addiction counselors, social workers, and psychiatric nurse practitioners who actively see new clients. Whether you’re an adult, teen, young adult, couple, or family, our inclusive therapist team is built to specialize in you.

Our practice started with one therapist in a shared office suite, but we’ve grown to help thousands of people in Colorado by providing in-person therapy at our conveniently located Denver Metro area counseling offices in Denver, Greenwood Village, and Lone Tree, plus online therapy for clients throughout Colorado. Because of the way our team works, our therapists also provide consultation for other therapists and private practices in the Denver Metro area.

Our inclusive therapists provide some of the most innovative, effective, and in-demand forms of therapy available today, including EMDR, Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, CBT, and IFS. We also have more therapists trained in Ketamine-assisted therapy, EMDR, and more teen therapists and young adult counselors than nearly every other private practice in Denver.

We know that clients want to find the best therapists in Denver, so our team includes therapists with different backgrounds, specialities, and experiences to help you find the right fit. We’ll match you with one of our therapists who is the best for your goals, location, budget, and schedule to help you get started quickly.

We’re out of network for insurance, Tricare, and are unable to take Medicaid, but most of our therapists’ rates are lower than the local and national averages for therapy.

All of our therapists take a client-focused approach to counseling and approach each session with  a commitment to your progress and growth.
