Personal injury trauma therapy in Denver

Heal from the emotional trauma caused by an accident or injury.

Therapists for personal injury trauma and accidents

When you’ve been in a car accident or had a life-altering injury, the trauma related to personal injury can go far beyond physical pain. Personal injury trauma can include stress, anxiety, PTSD, and even fear related to driving or restarting the activity you were doing when the injury happened, whether that’s at work or at home. Also, if you sustained a significant physical injury, the reminders of the accident or injury can be difficult to move forward from when you’re reminded of them daily.

In the United States, there are over 6 million car accidents every year. After an accident, both the victims and survivors oftentimes have a difficult time resuming their regular lives because of the trauma they experienced. They might develop fear of driving, anxiety related to getting back into the car, difficulty sleeping, and more. The effects of personal injury trauma can be long-lasting, causing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and more.

With the help of an experienced trauma therapist, you can heal from personal injury trauma from the inside out. Our therapists will help you process what happened, develop skills to move forward, release you from the traumatic memories, and help you find yourself again without the feelings of personal injury trauma.

At My Denver Therapy, most of our therapists specialize in trauma. We’ve helped thousands of people move forward beyond trauma that they’ve experienced. We’re trained in many of the most effective ways to treat trauma and PTSD,  including EMDR and Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. If you’ve experienced personal injury and have been looking for a way to move forward with your life, we’re here to help in Denver, Greenwood Village, and Lone Tree.

Get help with personal injury trauma

After you’ve been in an accident or suffered an injury, part of your recovery is dealing with your emotional trauma.

This can take many forms, including processing survivor’s guilt, dealing with stress related to what happened, and understand the many “whys” of what happened.

With personal injury counseling and therapy, we can help you work through the trauma that’s affecting your life after the accident or injury happened. Even after your physical body heals, therapy can be what you need to feel fully like yourself again.

Benefits of personal injury trauma therapy

Move forward from the accident: With therapy, you can process what happened so that it doesn’t affect your life going forward.

Reduce or eliminate trauma symptoms: If you’re experiencing stress or anxiety from the accident, personal injury therapy can equip you with the tools to feel like yourself again.

Reclaim who you are: Even after your physical body heals, you might not feel whole because of how you are reacting to situations or events that remind you of the personal injury event. Therapy can help you rediscover the person you were before the accident.

Does personal injury cause trauma?

If you’re asking yourself if you need therapy for personal injury or an accident, you might have PTSD or feel like the event has taken over other parts of your life. Many people have vivid flashbacks and nightmares that last long after the accident or injury happened, which manifests as anxiety, depression, and pulling back from everyday life.

Beyond the physical healing process, the emotional trauma you experience from personal injury can have a significant, negative affect on your life. When you work with a trauma therapist, you can dramatically change your life for the better and reclaim the person you were before what happened to you.

Traumatic events, like car accidents and injuries, affect your mental health and your everyday quality of life. They can overwhelm us in ways that prevent us from being able to process what happened and move past the memories of the event.

Symptoms of personal injury trauma

Common symptoms of personal injury trauma that can be treated with therapy include:

  • Nightmares of what happened
  • Having flashbacks of the accident or event that caused your injury
  • Fear of driving or doing the action where the accident happened, like climbing a ladder or using a type of machine
  • Pulling back from your friends, family, and even everyday life because of fear.
  • Having mood swings and emotions because people don’t understand how the injury affected you.

Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.

Meet our Denver therapists

My Denver Therapy is one of the largest woman-owned therapy private practices in Colorado with many of the best, most requested therapists in Denver.

As a therapist-owned practice with decades of combined experience, we care about seeing our clients heal, grow, and thrive. We’re one of the only therapy practices in Colorado with licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, addiction counselors, social workers, and psychiatric nurse practitioners who actively see new clients. Whether you’re an adult, teen, young adult, couple, or family, our inclusive therapist team is built to specialize in you.

Our practice started with one therapist in a shared office suite, but we’ve grown to help thousands of people in Colorado by providing in-person therapy at our conveniently located Denver Metro area counseling offices in Denver, Greenwood Village, and Lone Tree, plus online therapy for clients throughout Colorado. Because of the way our team works, our therapists provide consultation for other therapists and private practices in the Denver Metro area.

Our inclusive therapists provide some of the most innovative, effective, and in-demand forms of therapy available today, including EMDR, Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, CBT, and IFS. We also have more therapists trained in Ketamine-assisted therapy and more teen therapists and young adult counselors than nearly every other private practice in Denver.

We know that clients want to find the best therapists in Denver, so our team includes therapists with different backgrounds, specialities, and experiences to help you find the right fit. We’ll match you with one of our therapists who is the best for your goals, location, budget, and schedule to help you get started quickly.

We’re out of network for insurance, Tricare, and are unable to take Medicaid, but most of our therapists’ rates are lower than the local and national averages for therapy.

All of our therapists take a client-focused approach to counseling and approach each session with  a commitment to your progress and growth.
