Study finds that Ketamine helped reduce suicidal ideation by over 85%

Ketamine for depression treatment

A recent article in The Washington Post highlighted Ketamine’s effectiveness as a mental health treatment in long-term studies that had hundreds of patients. Researchers found that Ketamine treatments led to a significant reduction in symptoms of depression. Consistent with other studies on Ketamine as a mental health treatment, 72% of patients saw improvement in their mood, and 38% had no symptoms after 10 treatment sessions.

For people experiencing depression that hasn’t been able to be treated with medications, adding Ketamine to their treatment plans has been life-changing. Researchers said that this most recent study could help them understand the long-term potential for treating people with Ketamine, one of a number of psychedelic-assisted therapy options, including MDMA-assisted therapy, that people are exploring as research continues to support how effective they can be.

Ketamine shown to decrease suicidal ideation

In 2020 alone, almost 46,000 people in the United States died from suicide, and nearly 50,000 died from suicide just a few years before. In this study, researchers found that suicidal ideations decreased by at least 85% after 15 treatments. Patrick Oliver, the study’s lead researcher, said that patients most often start to notice changes with 6 treatments, depending on the person.

When people are at risk of harming themselves or committing suicide, this effect can be critically important. More and more people of all ages who have treatment-resistant depression are starting to use Ketamine as part of their mental health treatment, and we’re one of the leading therapy practices providing Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in Denver.

Using Ketamine as medicine to help you heal and change

Unlike infusions or injections alone, we combine our experience as therapists with Ketamine to help create change in your mind in ways that go far beyond traditional talk therapy. We act as guides during your Ketamine therapy sessions, and we connect these sessions to your day-to-day life and memories.

With Ketamine-assisted therapy, you can move forward from your depression without negative thoughts getting in the way and be able to find clarity in unique and life-changing ways by giving your mind a break from all of the things that could be preventing you from making progress. Your brain might have had its neural connections affected by years of chronic stress, and Ketamine can help regrow those connections that you need to heal, grow, and see things from a different perspective.
